What is Glass Etching?Glass etching is a roughening method on a portion of glass that a designer may want personalized or decorated. This is also known as sandcarving, or sandblasting. The designer may also want to etch a mirror, stone, marble, or crystal. You may want a frosted look added to a design on a Champaign class. This would be a soft blast of sand in order to accomplish such a task. This is called shading, and is done with a real delicate airbrush technique. If your looking for a deeper cut design, I would then choose a thicker piece of glass to blast into. This may be done to a window, maybe for a shower door, the front door of your home, or a china cabinet. This design then would need a more sharp grid of sand to blast deeper into the glass. Both types of applications are permanent.
